Princess of Swords continues....

Continuing with this piece I am now working on adding in some of the layers of detail.... More new work to follow later...

Driftwood Inspirations!

Leaving the Princess of Swords lurking in the corner today,I thought i should get round to a photo of these wonderful driftwood finds that I have been drying out. I found the triangular frame shape on last Boxing Day (it took some catching as it was floating in a pool at the time, but I couldn't let such terrific potential pass me by and it was well worth the wet gloves and armaches-not to mention bemused glances-when I carried it all the way back! )and my lovely daughter found the other piece-she seems to have inherited my fascinations with found items when out walking, and at eight years old shows an impressive eye for such little treasures as this, she was so proud when she returned home and presented me with this one! It is wonderfuly worn and smooth so feels alive and warm to the touch. Both of these items are lurking in the hallway on the radiator to be sure they dry thoroughly and each time I pass by a new idea strikes,so watch this space!

Work in Progress, Princess of Swords....

The form is really beginning to take some shape now, and I think I am almost ready to begin adding some finer detailing. It should be more apparent now to the viewer the changes and additions being made as I photograph each stage....

Princess of Swords

Continuing on from the two previous posts, these are the eight, ninth and tenth photos along the way(starting from the top). I can see the important base shapes taking form nowand I'm pleased at the results here. I'm really looking forward to getting some of the finer detailing in when this stage is complete. As many of the shaped run into each other and I want to keep the tones quite soft and dark, the detailing and her 'accessories' will be added layer by layer so as not to overwork any areas. I thought this would be a piece to challenge myself with - I wasn't wrong! Creating a painting can get a bit scary at this stage-will the finished piece live up to the hopes and vision in my mind??? They rarely do for me,but if I LIKE it that will be enough for now-meanwhile I continue to be absorbed and thriled by the whole process and my need to see it through to the end!

Princess of Swords continues....

The work on this painting continues-I think it's going ok so far,I can picture how I want it to look, and I know, more importantly what I want to capture and express in this piece and as I build the layers and details it feels that it's going the right way......

Princess of Swords-Work in progress

I mentioned a few posts ago that I would soon be adding some photos of works in progress as an interest item-this is one of the paintings I am currently working on,to be entitled 'Princess of Swords'.I will post a couple of photos each day,TRYING to remember to take shots at regular intervals,(which is much harder than I imagined it would be to do!) as the painting progresses (mistakes, alterations and problems included!), and (hopefully) present the finished piece in about a week or so for sale! I hope this will be of interest to all, regular or new visitors to my blog,as I said before, I find it fascinating to watch other artists at work and see a piece develop so I'm hoping many of you feel the same!Comments,as always, very welcome!

New Textile Art Treasure Boxes!

I have just added some new textile art Treasure Boxes into my etsy store - take a peek HERE ! The one pictured here in the photo is yummy, with a lovely hand made flower embellishment on the lid,it just begs to be touched and examined more closely! I am also waitng to take some photos of a wonderful piece of driftwood that I found on Boxing day at Perranporth beach-it was floating in the middle of a deep rockpool and I had to perform some serious clambering to reach it and it was SO heavy with water carrying it back! I'm pleased to say it has now dried out and is awaiting just the right inspiration for an art project, but as soon as the howling winds and rain stop (soon I hope, there have been too many days of it now!)I will photograph it 'naked'so to speak and post it here before I perform my transformation! Please remember that I also have one-of-a-kind Valentine cards for sale HERE too-it's only a few weeks away!

Tanya ACEO Print

This is a print taken from an original pencil fantasy drawing which has since been commissioned to be developed into a logo design for a hand made jewellery company. A delicate frame was added a delicate frame to the original work and am offering Tanya up for sale as a limited edition (ten) numbered and signed aceo print. The original has taken up residence in my portfolio as it is very dear to me and is a little too well handled to be saleable now! This is a wonderful way to share this very feminine and delicate image and I am so pleased with the print quality which was produced using 160gsm smooth matt photo paper. Follow the link HERE to see the full size listing! What are ACEOs???? ACEO is the acronym for "Art Cards Editions and Originals". An ACEO is a small piece of art that can be defined by it's convenient 2.5 x 3.5 inch size. (Standard trading card size) ACEOs are VERY different from trading cards however, because they are CREATED and traded or sold by artists.

Beneath The Veil

I have just listed this ink drawing in my ebay store ( CLICK HERE ). It is a fantasy style work in the OSWOA (original small works of art) format which requires (originals only of course ) measurements of 4" x 6". I love the boldness of working in ink and had forgotten how much I enjoyed this medium, as unforgiving as it is at times! More to follow!

ANGEL aceo

Thia is a cute little aceo currently for sale in my etsy store (visit HERE ). Work includes altered jigsaw piece, lace and sweet little fibre hanging loop. What are ACEOs???? (Some artists choose to sell prints of their work -'editions' ) ACEOs are created in any medium available in the art world. Artists are creating them in ALL kinds of styles and varieties. There are no rules limiting the artist, outside of the size dimensions. ACEOs can be framed, propped, used as bookmarks, grouped together in larger frames......use YOUR imagination! Trading Card notebooks, sleeves and holders can all be used to display them. WHY NOT BECOME A C

GRACE

Yellow Bird

I am so pleased with this painting! This is an acrylic painting on wooden board, fantasy style from my 'Rising' series. It is currently for sale in my ebay store ( CLICK HERE TO VISIT ) although I almost wish she wasn't as i am not at all sure I am ready to part with her as yet! The work is fully glazed with a tough matt finish which protects the paintwork whilst not detracting at all from the texture of the image. The pink tones are are cool and smooth, but there is a warm yellow glow surrounding the orbs and emanating from the bird as it flutters over. I wanted to capture a sense of lightness and freedom of imagination in this piece and so hopefully that is what you will see, although everyone responds in their own way of course so comments and reactions are most welcome!

Fairy Dawn

Fairy Dawn is a mixed media painting on block canvas currently for sale in my ebay store CLICK HERE to visit!! The piece includes hand made polymer face cab, hand stitched sequin embellishment and texture paints. The work is fully painted around the sides wiht a soft black so can be hung without the need for a frame. This piece measures 6" x 12" x 1.5"deep (aprx) . (The photos were taken in natural daylight to reflect the colours as accurately as possible, but monitors may vary slightly.) More works from this special 'Dawn' series will be made available for sale in 2008, so check back soon! A really atmospheric work-I'm pleased to say it has brought a "WOW!" from everyone to have viewed it so far-I don't think the photos could ever do it real justice! Canvas is lightly glazed to finish and protect.
