on my doorstep...

The painting is finished, but I have to deviate for a day and share these photos with you first...my daughters and I took a stroll on Tuesday afternoon, making most of the gentle Springtime feel in the air-they are not the best photo-quality in the world as I only had my phone with me, but I just had to try and capture a few shots and stop to savour and appreciate some of what is literally minutes from my doorstep. The area is developing fast, I sure hope we don't lose all of this to more housing, these snippets of streams and rough country lanes are so precious. It saddened me to see rubbish ( cans, old bikes etc) scattered in a few places, I so hope the area remains largely unspoilt for a long time to come. Hope you enjoy these

work in progress continues.....

Another series of 'in progress' shots - I hope you can see the piece developing here, it's giving me plenty to think about!

work in progress continues.....

A few more snaps of my newest painting in progress today....she will be completed soon now! :)

Work in Progress, new painting...

I have been working on a new large painting this week-I've been weighed down with lots of smaller projects lately, so much so that I would waste time organising the studio each morning, because I was so distracted I didn't really know which to work on next and needed to focus on one thing to clear my mind! It feels good to be focussed properly again and now the creative juices are flowing properly I feel more in control and highly motivated again-phew! These are the beginnings of a piece I am really enjoying :)

The Traveller

As so often happens I became far too absorbed in the process to remember to take further 'in progress' shots! Not to worry, here she is in all her glory-entitled 'The Traveller', she is bedecked with mementoes and collectibles from her journeying. A flower is tucked into her hair and her wings are spread wide to catch the breeze. She stands on a field of delicate flowers, pausing to absorb the view and savour the adventure for just a few moments before flitting onto the next.... I hope you like her :) The Traveller stands around 10" tall and her embellishments include hand dyed silk fibers, hand dyed fabrics and handmade beads, along with vintage jewellery parts, seaglass, wires and ribbons....to name but a few! Availabe for sale in my store PLEASE CLICK HERE for more details! Incidentally, if you look up the word 'nosey' in the dictionary there should be a picture of my kitten, Tamika, who, not to be outdone, made this photoshoot far trickier than i

Work In Progress...

A couple of posts ago I shared the beginnings of a new art doll. I know just the kind of look she will be expressing and was keen to get started back to working on her today! Here are some more 'in progress' pictures as she evolves.... A decidedly snooty expression is the beginning-but charming all the same! I will definitely be using some of my latest fiber art beads on this piece.... Still working on the face and head to characterize her,I added a whole bunch of colourful curls to this beauty! Construction beginning in earnest now, using fabric and wire to begin with, I can't wait to get back to this one later tonight and develop her a little further...

beads n stuff....

My posts here of late seem to be a little scattered and random! I think I have a few too many irons in the fire this past month or so, but it will all work out in the end. Am hoping to have some newly completed artworks to excite you with by the end of this week! In the meantime-why not try adding some of these wonderful handmade beads to your own artworks perhaps? Available for sale HERE for sale-custom colour orders welcome!

in the studio this week...

A new base created and ready as another lovely art doll starts to come to life ... :)
